Youth Development
Dr. Hyman (center of photo) is the lead consultant on a 5-year, 9-state, youth development demonstration testing how state governments can collaborate with local communities to provide positive developmental opportunities for young people. More detail is provided under the News tab.
Community Building/Community Development
Through an extensive engagement with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the firm established expertise in community building: designing a framework to define and inform community building as an area of work and study; and convening a national forum of 100 experts from education, research, foundations and communities to assess the status of the field.
Prisoner Reentry
The firm has built a knowledge base around the nation’s incarceration and prisoner reentry challenges through collaboration with the National Trust for the Development of African-American Men and through contracts with the California Endowment to evaluate and document innovative “rehabilitation/reintegration” efforts funded in San Quentin Prison.
Social Capital
Social capital refers to assets that are available to individuals as a result of their relationships with others. The firm has built expertise around this concept and its applications to community development and improvement efforts through research and exploration.
