Conference Presentations



Periodically, Dr. Hyman has been asked to give presentations to local, state and national conferences; to university audiences and to community groups about the firm, its work and expertise and its publications.




Notable examples include:
  • September 2006, Durham, NC: The neighborhood Funders Group invited Dr. Hyman to conduct a session to present his research on Men and Communities as a workshop during the Council on Foundations meeting.

  • December 2006, New York, NY: The John Jay College of Criminal Justice invited Dr. Hyman to conduct a colloquium with faculty and staff responsible for designing the college's approach to the City University of New York's call for a University-wide focus on recruiting and retaining African-American males.

  • April 2007, Flint, MI: The Phelps Stokes Fund invited Dr. Hyman to be its keynote speaker at its STAR Conference celebrating the opening of the Smart Teachers As Role Models Project in Flint.

  • June 2008, Atlanta, GA: Corporation for National and Community Service - Dr. Hyman was asked to design and moderate an Immersion Learning Session of the volunteering behaviors of the poor and people of color. Dr. Hyman's paper for the conference and Dr. Hyman's transcript of the session are now available on this site.
